Get here

As the world becomes busier and people are less connected, the Land of the Thunder Dragon, Bhutan is an island of authenticity and uniqueness, peace and spirituality. It is an exclusive and special experience for any visitor.

Visitor numbers are deliberately kept low to limit the impact of tourism on Bhutan’s unique culture and pristine environment, and recent changes to encourage independent travel provide the opportunity to get off the well worn tour group path to experience the Bhutanese warmth and the wonder of our culture.

flights

Bhutan’s only international airport is in Paro, in western Bhutan.

There are direct flights into Paro from Singapore, Dubai, India, Bangladesh, Thailand and Nepal, via the national carrier, Druk Air (Royal Bhutan Airlines).

Bhutan Airlines are opening up more routes all the time, including from many airports in India, plus Nepal, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Malaysia.

driving

If you are an Indian National, you can drive into Bhutan in your own vehicle.

This is not an option for other nationalities of tourists. It is not possible to hire a car in India and drive into Bhutan.

visas

All visitors to Bhutan must have a valid visa before traveling. You can apply yourself, or have us, your tour operator, or hotel apply on your behalf, but it’s a very simple application.

The application includes payment of the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF), (set at US$100 per day until 2027), plus a one-off visa application fee of US$40 (+ $10 for a 24 hour processing turnaround), and a Pledge of Friendship to the people of Bhutan.

You can go direct to the Department of Immigration services portal to apply.
